Nursery
Welcome to Nursery!
In our Nursery, we embrace the importance of learning through play as the foundation for early education. We deliver a balanced curriculum that first focuses on the three Prime Areas of development: Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), and Physical Development. These areas are key, and through daily activities, children learn essential skills like effective communication, sharing, and taking turns with their peers. Building upon this strong base, we then extend their learning across the four Specific Areas: Mathematics, Literacy, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging start to their educational journey.
Our dedicated Nursery Team are very excited to be a part of your child’s Early Years Journey:
Mr Overton - Director of Early Years
Mrs Chinnery - Nursery Teacher
Mrs Crabbe - Early Years Practitioner
Contact us
At Western House Academy we strongly believe in establishing a secure and friendly home/school partnership, and we believe this begins in nursery. A member of the nursery team is available to speak to you about your child every day at the door once all children have been released safely. You are also welcome to discuss your child’s needs by arranging a meeting.
If you would like to contact us, please email nurserywha@theparkfederation.org
Library
At Western House Academy we really do want children to become enthusiastic and independent readers, and we heartedly recognise the importance of reading from an early age and incorporating this into a child's daily routine. Hence, at Western House Nursery, children will have the opportunity to choose a library book each week which they can share at home.
In our nursery we celebrate children from many different ethnic backgrounds. For many of these children, English is a second language. By reading to your child and talking about the pictures, you are encouraging a fundamental part of language development in early childhood - so please read with/to your child.
