Music Clubs

In the Musical Collectives, the children play a range of instruments such as the steel pans, the xylophones and glockenspiels, the electric pianos and guitars. They work collectively to learn how to develop important musical skills in order to perform entire pieces of music from memory.

In BoomBoxRadio, the children research, write and record radio shows that are made into podcasts and uploaded to mixcloud. They record a regular Musician of the Month, covering a range of musical genres and also themed shows based on curriculum matters and other current topics which the children learn about at school.

In the Steel Pan Club, the children learn how to play pieces of music from a specialist Steel Pan teacher. The children learn to play in the aural tradition, memorising all of their parts. They have the opportunity to perform at The Hexagon theatre in Reading with other schools across Berkshire that have learnt the same pieces of music.
