Computing

Computing at Western House Academy aims to equip pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. It is a valued and popular subject taught by a specialist teacher and forges especially deep links with Mathematics, Science, DT as well as supporting, reinforcing and enhancing all other subject areas. Pupils use various programs on a variety of devices, design, write, compose and create their own programs & games, solve problems, use physical computing, communicate, collaborate and become better digital citizens.

Here is a flavour of WHA Computing from EYFS through KS1 & KS2:

Creative Computing Club - Summer 2021

This term we ran an extra curricular after school 'social catch up' club. During the 6 weeks we watched film clips and short films and discussed different camera shots. We used still cameras and in groups took turns to be actors and directors taking an example of each type of shot. We then scripted our own mini-movies and created storyboards and story mountains to plan the shots, drama, action and dialogue.

What do you think of our finished movies?
